China: Guizhou red-heart Kiwi prices rise

"The main production areas for red-heart kiwis are located in Guizhou, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei Province. The production season of Guizhou red-heart kiwifruit is from mid August until the end of October. Compared to 2015, the total annual output of Guizhou red-heart kiwifruit increased by about 15% in 2016, which was mainly due to the good weather conditions all the year round. The average market price rose by about 20%," said Hangan Li, from the HanXiang Fruit and Vegetable Processing Agricultural Cooperative.

"Our cooperative is located in Shuicheng County of Guizhou Province. Our plantation covers an area of about 450 acres, and our cooperative control base covers an area of about 1500 acres. As the trees are in the fruiting period, it is estimated that our production this year will increase by 15-20%. In the sales market, 70% of the high-quality red-heart kiwi will be sold under the brand of 'Nier Dai', through traditional store models, and 30% will be through on-line sellers and sold to the supermarkets and wholesale markets in the second tier cities of China."
