Hans Derks: “Early demand from US”

Dutch bell pepper production delayed

The Dutch bell pepper production has not really got into its stride yet. “We had a very gloomy spring, which delayed the production, so it has been pushed back a bit. Naturally, it will all start happening next week. Apparently, Spain will be mostly finished in a few weeks, which suits the Dutch season,” says Hans Derks, commercial manager of Harvest House.

“For the coming year, we will have a slightly larger bell pepper area compared to last year. The area of expansion has been divided evenly over the colours. A careful transition to Dutch can now be seen. Price levels are very stable. We had demand from the US early as well,” Hans continues. “The seasonal expectation is always dependent on many variables, but there are no indications to not enter the season full of confidence.”
