BelOrta has started its promotional campaign for apples in India. “We have been organising tastings since early March, and we will have actions until the end of the season,” says Jo Lambrecht. “Nearly all retailers were willing to cooperate with our tasting sessions. In comparison to our Conference campaign, we now have more chains where we promote apples, and nationwide at that. We have tastings in six metropolises: Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow. The promotions mostly take place at retailers, but also through online grocer’s shops and street shops.” BelOrta works with the Flemish government for this campaign.
No longer a novelty
Jo indicates that consumers have responded very enthusiastically. “The red Belgian apples are no longer a novelty by now. Year after year, the export of Belgian apples to India increases. With this campaign, we want to work on a better market position for our apples in India. The brand ambassador, well-known Bollywood star Sonu Sood, is once again the face of the campaign. He speaks to all Indian people, both young and old.”
Ambitious
“Export is increasing and we are very ambitious as regards 2017. We’ll have to wait for the end of the season to see what the effects of the campaign will be,” Jo concludes. For more information:
