BioCultura comes to a close in Seville

Organic market consolidates in southern Spain

On Sunday, 12 March, the fair BioCultura Sevilla came to a close after three intense days of transactions and all kinds of activities related to organic food and natural life. The organizers have highlighted the remarkable number of visitors and the great influx of professionals from all provinces of Andalusia and the neighbouring autonomous regions.

Ángeles Parra, director of BioCultura, pointed out that "the organic sector is very clearly expanding. What was a minority sector a few years ago is no longer so and will not stop growing. If we have overcome the worst years of the recession, it is very likely that we'll soon see the boom of organic food in our country. And Andalusia wasn't going to be an exception, especially considering it is a world leader in organic production.

Worthy of note has been the very remarkable presence of professionals in the organic sector, who have met the expectations of the organizers and exhibiting companies. For Parra, "it is clear that it is a sector that can generate benefits to eco-entrepreneurs; that is, socially and environmentally clean benefits. We are talking about a true 'eco-nomy'. An 'eco-nomy' that bets on giving our grandchildren a planet with the most dignified conditions possible for life. We have a responsibility in this regard. We must stop talking and start acting firmly.

As has been demonstrated by BioCultura Sevilla, more and more people understand that the most effective solidarity, or at least part of it, depends on our consumption choices."

Parra also stated that "organic product consumers are a motivated public; one that doesn't sit still, that is informed, that is fed up with politicians and companies teasing them and have decided to take the reins of their lives, their consumption and their health. And they know that the best informational and commercial showcase for this new world is BioCultura. With only two editions, we can already say that BioCultura Seville is a consolidated fair. The number of innovations offered by the organic food sector and its related subsectors is very remarkable: eco-natural cosmetics, sustainable fashion, bio-construction, etc. The paradigm shift is underway."
