Merger between Dow and Dupont

The merger between the two chemistry giants Dow and Dupont seems to be close. The deadline for a final decision had been established for 28th February.

During a recent convention, in which both multinationals took part, the merger was discussed as an imminent event; there might be just a few weeks to go before the news becomes official.

An article, published 15 months ago by Il Sole24Ore, talked about the merger as a sure thing. However, as always in these cases, a number of European checks must be carried out, such as those by Antitrust authorities.

The merger of the two multinationals would create a giant that will control around 17% of the global pesticide market and become the third leading supplier of chemical substances to the agricultural sector.

A further confirmation of the imminent merger can be read here.
