Jiangxi intercepts Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel at the border

The Jiangxi customs Inspection and Quarantine Bureau stopped the import of 101 fruits with a harmful organism, Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel. The Bactrocera was found on mangoes that arrived by plane in the hand luggage of a Thai tourist. The number of fruits intercepted is a new record. The mangoes were sent to the laboratory of the technical center of the customs Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. Here the discovery was made that the fruits were harbouring a large amount of larvae of the Bactrocera, determined through an evaluation of the feeding and maturing of the larvae. The Jiangxi harbour has intercepted Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel several times from fruits that were brought across the border by tourists, but an interception on this scale has never been done before.
