First arrival of Nicaragua bananas at Agrofair
Since the beginning of the year, AgroFair has been working together with the largest European retailer and several producers from Nicaragua. One of these producers is the family business Coquimba. The Coquimba farm is an old hacienda of 120 hectares that is run by the brothers Eduardo and Jose Ubilla.
There are several original buildings on the plantation that were built by the great grandparents of the current owners. That the current owners appreciate history, culture, and nature, is apparent from the 20 hectares of rainforest that is being retained for preserving the biodiversity.
The plantation has its own water supply; there is enough ground water because of the river Rio Chiquito that runs over the terrain of the Ubilla family. The bananas are Rainforest Alliance and GlobalGap certified.
