Imports of dried dragon fruit entering via Dongdu doubles

In 2016 a total of 8,430 tons of dried dragon fruit was imported via the Dongdu trade post in Xiamen city. The goods had a total value of 14.7 million USD. There have been growths of 78% and 106% respectively, in comparison to last year.

Staff at the Inspection and Quarantine Office near Dongdu explained that the imported dried dragon fruits all come from Thailand. This is because the available land in China to grow dragon fruit has been reducing in size over recent years, which has resulted in a smaller output of the fruit. Therefore the market demand for the Thai dragon fruit, known for its good quality, is booming.
