India’s first comprehensive digital platform for farmers

Mahindra Agri Solutions Limited (MASL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, announced the launch of ‘MyAgriGuru’, a 24x7 advisory platform for farmers that has been introduced as a mobile app. Developed in English and Hindi currently, the app has been launched across India and is available on Android.

Ashok Sharma, President-Agribusiness and MD & CEO- Mahindra Agri Solutions Ltd. said, “Delivering Farm Tech Prosperity has always been a key business driver and a long-term vision for us at Mahindra. We aspire to positively impact the lives of 75 million farmers by 2025.”

“While Samriddhi centers have certainly contributed to this vision through our direct association with around 100,000 farmers on an annual basis, we do realize the need to expand our horizons and to reach out to a far bigger farming community. The development of MyAgriGuru is the result of this aspiration and thinking. It is a 24x7 advisory platform for farmers that will significantly enhance their knowledge and productivity, ultimately leading to higher output and prosperity,” he added.

MyAgriGuru is a reservoir of information essential for farming and also allows collaboration with other farmers and Agriculture experts in order to seek quick and reliable solutions to issues related to farming.

Mahindra is working with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to source weather forecasts for a 5 day period, in order to ensure that crucial farming activities are aligned with the climatic conditions. It has also associated with Commodity Exchange – NCDEX in order to share real-time prices of various mandis across the country. It will empower farmers to compare prices and seek the best across states.

Adding further, Ashok Sharma said, “‘MyAgriGuru’ furthers the Government of India’s vision to digitise the agriculture sector as a part of its umbrella program of ‘Digital India’. It will also play a significant part in achieving the Government’s target to double farmer's income by the year 2022. This app will enable our farmers to make informed decisions at every stage of the farming process which will boost both agricultural productivity and farm incomes substantially.”

Key features of MyAgriGuru include Crop, Agri-Buzz, Market Price and Weather. ‘Charcha’ is another essential feature that harnesses the knowledge and expertise of Agri experts and other experienced farmers across the community. It is an impactful feature as it taps into an entire ecosystem of knowledge, ensuring that farmers in the most far flung areas have a 24/7 access to the most modern and innovative farming solutions.

MyAgriGuru app was piloted in the key districts of M.P and U.P in order to seek farmer feedback and inputs. A few hundred farmers have already experienced the app, and the farmer reactions have been incorporated to improve the user interface as well as the information structure on the platform.

‘MyAgriGuru’ app can be downloaded from Google Play Store on android phones.
