Danish machine cuts labour costs while increasing productivity

Offering a machine that cuts down on labour costs and increases productivity is an interesting prospect for pretty much any company in the industry. Danish machine manufacturer Egatec Packaging Int., is offering just such a machine and felt that Fruit Logistica in Berlin was a great venue to demonstrate their end of line machine to producers.

Gunner Hansen, Morten Berenth Nielsen and Mads Nychel from Egatec Packaging Int., showing their machine which sorts packaged goods into crates.

"The event was great and we had a lot more interest than we had originally imagined. As far as I know, we were the only ones here offering this type of machinery. It was the first year of having our own stand and it's been a very positive experience for us. There is going to be a lot of follow up to do once we get home. We have had enquiries from people all over the world, including far away destinations like Peru, from producers who are interested in our machine and potential resellers." shared Morten Nielsen from Egatec Packaging Int.

The company specializes in end of line packing for the fruit and vegetable industry and the Standard A-One Case Packer line is unique because it is designed for the secondary packing stage, putting the product into boxes or trays, which is usually done manually by employees at rotational tables. It starts doing its job after the vegetables have gone through the primary packing stage, ie. flow packing or wrapping.

"The machine can be used for products of all sizes and all different types of packaging. It slides the packaged goods into crates or trays very gently so that there is no damage. Packing can also be done in multiple layers and it is able to accommodate 50 to 80 units a minute, depending on how many layers and how big the packaging is, completing the final stage of the packing so the fruits or vegetables are all ready to go to retailers." shared Morten.

"Weighing in at 350kg, it has a very small footprint, so it can easily be moved around to different places at the production site. Along with items packed in trays, packing irregular items that are in nets, like onions or oranges are also not a problem."

With 14 dealerships situated around the world, Egatec Packaging Int. continues to look for additional locations for expansion. Morten said that, along with drumming up interest amongst producers, they are always on the lookout for machine manufacturers or vendors who are interested in selling the machine and invites them to contact the company for more information.
