Spain: Harvest of San Rafael raspberries starts in Huelva

The province of Huelva started harvesting San Rafael raspberries on Tuesday February 14. The quality is very good, despite the impact of cold and rain in autumn and the early winter.

The San Rafael variety is exclusive to Viveros California. "The size and quality of the fruit is superior to that of other varieties produced at the same time in this area," the company said.

Currently Viveros California is conducting the development of the variety with a group of producers from Huelva, who are very satisfied with the yield per hectare they obtained last year.

At the last Fruit Logistica, foreign producers expressed their interest in cultivating this variety in their respective countries.

According to the director of Viveros California, Antonio Arjona, "San Rafael provides two important benefits to producers: they can easily develop their own plant material, and its marketing is free, so producers can do as they wish."
