Guangxi has good transport connections with Vietnam making it one of the most convenient channels between China and the ASEAN markets. At present, Guangxi has successively opened the Pingxiang land port, the Guilin airport and the Fangchenggang waterway for the fruits entry.
Sun added that the Pingxiang land port is Guangxi's and even China's largest fruit import and export land passage. The imported fruits from the ASEAN countries are pitaya, longan, watermelon, mangosteen, durian, rambutan, litchi, bananas, etc. All these fruits enter the Friendship port and Nonghuai through small-scale border traders.
Data provided by The Pingxiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau shows that the volume of local imports of fruit has improved compared with 2015.
Faced with the growing import and export trade between China and the ASEAN countries, Su indicated that Guangxi has won support from China's State Administration of quality supervision to approve the construction of Dongxing port, Qinzhou Bonded Zone, Longbang and Shuikou port, the four designated ports of entry. Among them, Qinzhou Bonded Zone has reached the relevant requirements in cold storage supervision, sites and facilities inspection as well as the management and staffing system, and has passed the on-site inspection and acceptance by AQSIQ. In 2017, Guangxi inspection and quarantine departments will strive for the examination and approval for Dongxing, Shuikou and Longbang port to relieve the pressure on Pingxiang port.
"As the imported fruits may carry harmful organisms, the Guangxi inspection and quarantine departments will make full use of the special inspection platform to achieve car inspections and immediate supervision to improve customs clearance efficiency. They will also see to strengthen communication with the relevant departments of Vietnam and timely notify the information and to implement the dynamic risk management and establish the traceability system to ensure the safety of imported fruits".
