China: Pepper exports from Baoding still rising

In January 2017, the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in Baoding city, Hebei province, completed the export and investigated the production of 19 batches of peppers, which weighed up to 390 tons in total, for a value of 1,450,000 USD. These have seen increases of 138%, 35% and 65% respectively.

All of the pepper exporting enterprises in Baoding are situated in the city's Wagdu county. This county has always been famous for its "Northern spiciness". It is the largest production and distribution center of Northern China. The turnover in the industry here exceeds 273 million EUR (2 billion RMB). The goods are sold in Russia, Japan and Mexico and twenty more countries in Southeast Asia, Africa and the European union.

The Inspection and Quarantine office in Baoding bases itself on the trade in these peppers. It fully supports the quality of the goods that are provided by the enterprises and helps to increase the exports. To increase product quality, they have developed brand effects. To provide assistance to Wangdu county, the government has successfully established a model district that sustains the quality and the safety of the products at the national level. The government manages the exported peppers through effective regulations. They aim to increase the reputation of "Wangdu peppers" in the international market.
