"Spain: "We hope to reach the same production volume as last year"

Although this year's stonefruit campaign has not yet started, growers are paying close attention to everything that is happening. The fact is that "there are many companies which have been affected by the latest rains; we have recorded heavy rainfall," explains José Illán, representative of Terranifra. However, this Murcia-based company has confirmed that, for now, its production has not been significantly affected. "We expect to reach the same production volume as last year, although we cannot confirm anything yet," states Illán.

Terranifra is an Organization of Fruit and Vegetable Producers consisting of 5 cooperatives which was created only two years ago and which currently exports stonefruit, especially nectarines and peaches. Some of the fruit's destinations are France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands, although its future plans include expanding to countries outside Europe.
