Interfresa will promote strawberries in the UK and softfruit in the EU

The delegation of Andalusia's Strawberry Inter-branch Association (Interfresa), which was present at Berlin's Fruit Logistica, has planned, with Extenda, a strawberry campaign in the UK for around April. And, once the Ministry of Agriculture of Andalusia approves the extension to the Red Fruits, they will work to promote the red fruit in the European Union in 2018.

After the dispute maintained with ALDI Supermercados SL, which was forced to cancel a sales campaign of strawberries, the delegation of Interfresa, which included its president, Jose Luis Garcia-Palacios Alvarez, and its manager, Pedro Marin, have spoken with the all the producers from the province of Huelva that were at the Fruit Logistica Fair and discovered that the sector was still interested in undertaking the projects that were approved at the last general assembly.

The Minister herself, Carmen Ortiz, and the general director of Industries, Quality and Agri-Food Chain, Rosa Isabel Rios, who accompanied the delegation, have said that they were working so that the Inter-branch association included softfruits. This will allow them to prepare a 'Red Fruits in Europe' promotional campaign for 2018, just as they had previously conducted a Strawberries in Europe campaign, with the support of the European Union and the Ministry.

The CEO of Extenda, the agency that has managed the joint presence of exhibitors from Huelva in Hall 18 of Fruit Logistica, has also spoken with Interfresa about the possibility of conducting a campaign dedicated to strawberries in the UK in April, which is also a project that was unanimously approved at the general assembly.

Once the expansion of Interfresa is approved, they want to prepare a campaign to highlight the nutritional value of blueberries throughout Spain; a goal that all the producers from Huelva at Berlin expressed to the president and manager of Interfresa. According to data, the producers from Huelva had more than 70,000 professional visits at the fair.

Lea Linster, a prestigious chef from Luxembourg, who is the face of the 'Enjoy the Red' campaign in Germany, is an example of the impact that the 'Strawberries in Europe' promotion campaign has had. Lea accompanied the producers of Huelva throughout the fair. According to Jose Luis Garcia-Palacios Alvarez, the fair's results were "optimal for all the sector, which has seen the effectiveness of the promotional campaigns that have been launched by Interfresa, which encourages them to continue on that path so that they can manage to go to other markets, including the Red Fruits."
