China: Radish carving contest held in Qingdao city

Day two of the 2017 Qingdao Radish·Lantern·Sugar-Ball Festival will feature a a spectacular sculpture - an auspicious combination of a rooster and a dragon.

The creator of the work, 32 year-old Junfeng Li, said "The reason for designing this is to send people the 'good fortune'. This year is the second time I have participated in the radish carving contest. In 2012 my 'nine-dragon' sculpture received the special gold medal, but my goal is to win the competition this year and at the same time to grab this opportunity to learn from other masters."

The 19 watermelon carving from the 'Good fortune' works took him 3 hours to complete on the morning of the 6th. And the rooster and dragon 'wishful combination' in foam carving took him 6 days and nights to finish.
