The future of the CAP is subject to public consultation

The European Commission has started the first phase of the modernization and simplification of the Common Agricultural Policy by opening a public consultation, which began yesterday and will conclude on May 2.

The Commission will take into consideration the input received in the consultation when drafting the communication project that should be submitted before the end of 2017 and will contain conclusions on the current operation of the CAP and possible policy options for the future. Subsequently, legislative proposals must be submitted, although there is no date established for this.

According to FEPEX prioritizing the objectives of enhancing food security, the productive activity and employment, where the operational programs of producer organizations are one of the most effective measures that contribute significantly to the fulfillment of these objectives, as well as those related to the environment and sustainable development, is relevant in the future of the CAP.
