China: Navel orange sales up by 65%

Navel oranges are currently showing a 65% increase in sales, which totalled over 160 thousand tons. The average price per kilogram is 8 yuan, about 1 yuan higher than last year, which has created a direct income of 1 billion yuan for the farmers. According to statistics, in 2016 the country's citrus production stood at about 240 thousand tons and is expected to yield 1 billion 550 million yuan. It is mainly sold to the larger cities including Chongqing northeast, Beijing, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Guizhou and Xinjiang as well as other middle-sized and small cities.
