Fruit coming from Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a quick sell in China during the Spring Festival

It is just the time when dragon fruit from Vietnam and other countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are arriving on the marketplace. With their fiery-red look and their delicious flavour, they have been much sought after on Guangxi province's New Year's market in recent years. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations has become the largest partner when it comes to agricultural products, and Guangxi is the channel via which the fruits coming from those countries enters China, currently passing through 7 ports assigned for fruit import. According to a statistic leaked by Nanning customs, there were 1.12 milion tons of fresh and dried fruits and nuts imported or exported in 2016, the price of which was estimated at 52.2 bilion yuan.

The Chairman of the Chamber of commerce for fruit import and export between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Mr. Su Demao, says that in spring, demand for dragon fruit, mangosteen and pomegranate increases up to 40% and prices rise 10%.
