Austrian Labour Inspectorate prohibits fruit in the office

The Austrian TV show "Vurschrift is Vurschrift" (Rules are rules) recently dealt with a fruity theme. A company from Vienna was offering fruit to its office staff in baskets, but this cost them a visit from the Labour Inspectorate, reports the site heute.at.

According to the Labour Inspectorate, fresh fruit does not belong in the office. The reason: there is no employee in charge of the daily monitoring of the fruit baskets so that rotten and/or spoiled fruit can be removed. Such a "safety expert" is, however, mandatory, according to worker protection regulations.

The manager consequently decided to remove the fruit. The employees are not happy about it, but "Vurschrift is Vurschrift!" actor, Rudi Roubinek, later portrayed this strange situation in the show and a team had to guess the reason for the ban.
