Erick Garcia, of the Trade Commission of Peru:

"Peru is the Netherlands' fourth largest fruit and veg supplier"

Less than 3 weeks before the inauguration of Fruit Logistica 2017, the Peruvian pavilion has confirmed that it will have a 512 square metre stand, where a variety of Peruvian products will be exhibited. It is worth mentioning that the demand for Peruvian products has been increasing, with the European Union receiving most of the shipments.

More than 300 entrepreneurs from the country's main producing areas expect deals to be negotiated worth over US$ 135 million. Furthermore, the fair will serve as a stage for the launch of the brand "Superalimentos del Peru" (Superfoods of Peru), which includes products such as blueberries, quinoa, maca, avocados, mangoes, mandarins, pomegranates, ginger, blueberries, physalis, granadilla, chia, amaranth or tara, among others.

The Netherlands
"Worthy of note is the growth of exports to the Netherlands, which are up by 20.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. As a result, Peru has already become the fourth largest supplier of fruits and vegetables in this country. Moreover, Peru is also the third largest supplier of fresh fruits and vegetables from Latin America, behind Chile and Brazil," affirmed Erick Garcia, Director of the Trade Commission of Peru.

The Peruvian delegation will be headed by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros Kuppers, and has the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MINAGRI), the Association of Agricultural Producers' Guilds of Peru (AGAP), the Association of Exporters, the Peruvian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the commercial economic advisers of the various European markets.

Fruit and vegetable exports account for 28% of Peruvian agro-exports, which between January and November 2016 were worth US$ 4.068 billion. In the same period, shipments of Peruvian fruit and vegetables to the European Union reached a value of US$ 914 million.

"We, as an organization, promote Peruvian exports to the Netherlands and provide support and assistance to both Peruvian and Dutch companies that are looking for a business partner or a new business. We offer all our experience and advice free of charge, as our ultimate goal is to promote the best our country has to offer," reiterated the representative.
