Italy: Melinda ends cherry season positively thanks to Unitec

"60 cents saved on labour and +€0.30/kg paid to producers," these are the figures recently published by Melinda.

These are concrete results obtained already during the first campaign with UNITEC's electronic sorter, equipped with Cherry Vision 2 for the internal and external sorting of Val di Non cherries at the Melinda facility in C.O.C.E.A. Segno (Trento).

The season was quite disappointing in terms of volumes and quality because of the bad weather and Drosophila suzukii. Nonetheless, thanks to UNITEC's technology, Melinda managed to tackle the usual challenges when processing this product and even eliminate D. suzukii from the final produce.

This in turn meant that, despite a very difficult year for the Italian cherry sector, producers, the packing station, retailers and final consumers were all satisfied.

These results are the perfect testament to the efficiency and reliability of Unitec technologies. The company works alongside its clients to develop innovations that can help them reach their objectives.

"At Unitec, our objective is to put our technology and professionalism at the service of our clients. We feel we contribute to their achievements and are partly responsible for them," explains President Angelo Benedetti.
