Fruitimprese data on foreign trade during the first ten months of 2016

The data concerning the first ten months of 2016 confirm the trend - there was an increase of exported volumes (6%) and their value (4.4%) and a decrease of imported volumes (-5.3%) and their value (-3.4%).

The balance is approximately €786 million, with a 51.8% increase with respect to 2015.


Between January and October, Italian companies exported 3.517 million tons for a value slightly above €3.8 billion.

There was an increase in the exports of vegetables (16.7%), citrus fruit (17.7%), fresh fruit (2%) and dried fruit (12%). As for value, the signs were positive for all segments - 6% for vegetables, 29.7% for citrus fruit, 1.1% for fresh fruit and 8.1% for dried fruit.

For what concerns imports, Italy purchased abroad around 2.722 million tons of produce for a value slightly above €3 billion.

The only increase in volume was for dried fruit (13%) and tropical fruit (3.8%), while there was a decrease for fresh fruit (-7.9%), vegetables (-4,8%) and citrus fruit (-26.2%). As for value, the signs were positive only for tropical fruit.
