More than half are Golden Delicious

South Tyrol: current apple stock figures

The Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano and the Assemela in Trento regularly publish information on the current stock of apples in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The overview from the beginning of January is now online

According to the surveys of Assomela and the Chamber of Commerce, 1,056,991 metric tonnes of apples were still stored in the region on the 1st of January this year. On the 1st of January 2610, the figure was 1,063,407 metric tonnes and in 2015 it was 1,107532 metric tonnes. Just over half the stocks are apples of the Golden Delicious variety (565,923 metric tonnes). Some other varieties are Red Delicious (102, 816 metric tonnes), Gala (67,467 metric tonnes) and Granny Smith (63,755 metric tonnes). Compared to last year, the stocks of Gala, Cripps Pink and Braeburn are somewhat higher, those of the varieties Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and Fuji are lower.

In December, Golden Delicious was by far the most sold variety (around 55,000 metric tonnes) followed by Gala (about 18,500 metric tonnes) and Red Delicious (about 13,000 metric tonnes). Granny Smith and Fuji, on the other hand, sold only about 5,000 metric tonnes.
