The Dominican Republic gets ready for Agroalimentaria 2017

Agroalimentari is a biennial trade show organized by the Dominican Agricultural business Board (JAD), the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), and other private and public organizations related to the Dominican export sector.

The fair will be held from May 18 to the 20, 2017 at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). There, the attendees of the fair will have the opportunity to meet with exporters and importers from all over the world, present their products, and build fruitful relationships through a series of business meetings.

Modernization of the Food Security Act
Claudia Chez, the director of markets at the JAD, stated: "The program will be similar to that of previous editions. However, this year, the conference will address the regulations that have been approved this year in the US through the Modernization of the Food Security Act and the requirements that exporters must take into account to continue selling their products to that market. To do this, we will have speakers from the FDA who will explain the situation to the attendees. In addition, we will also discuss other issues, such as ecological packaging, cold chain issues, the latest technological trends in the food industry, and many other topics."

Activities and meetings
The fair will have other activities, such as the Dominican Night, an event for special and international guests that will be held on the first day of the fair and where they will be able to taste various local and exotic products to the rhythm of merengue music. It will be a perfect evening to explore business opportunities.

"Another important part of Agroalimentaria will be its gastronomic activities, where visitors can taste the flavors of traditional Dominican products in dishes prepared by renowned chefs," Chez said.

There will be many business meetings, which are usually of great interest to international participants because it allows them to meet with producers to create or expand trade agreements.

Growing assistance
Since its first edition, the number of attendees to Agroalimentaria has risen steadily. In the previous edition, which was held in 2015, the fair was attended by 220 international buyers and there were more than 3,000 business meetings held. 93% of the attendees said the fair had helped them position their business internationally, learn about new products and trends in the sector, expand their knowledge of the rules and requirements of international markets, and find great partners and suppliers.

Agroalimentaria has established itself as the best environment for dialogue, information exchange, and the display of trends, because all of its forums, conferences, and workshops are given and attended by reliable experts with a lot of experience in the sector.

Save the date to participate in this great event and enjoy Santo Domingo, the brightest city in the New World, from May 18 to the 20.
