Driscoll’s donates 2,350 kilos of food to local charities

This year, berry company Driscoll’s donated 349 children’s gifts, 2.350 kilos of food and 3.390 euros to the local communities of Spain, Portugal, The United Kingdom and The Netherlands. These donations were collected during sport events, fundraisers and a family day. On top of that, the team also dedicated 82 hours to voluntary work for a senior home, women’s shelter and a number of food banks.

Spain

One of the most memorable initiatives of this year, was a 400 kilometer bike ride from the company’s office in East Malling (The United Kingdom) to Driscoll’s headquarters in Breda (The Netherlands). The team members accomplished this challenging trip in 32 hours and raised 2.390 euros for the MacMillan Cancer Foundation in The United Kingdom. Driscoll’s employee Alessandra Lillo: “Unfortunately, almost every one of our team knows or has been close to someone with cancer.

United Kingdom

MacMillan Cancer Foundation is doing excellent work for people who are suffering from this dreadful disease. The charity is helping out with the medical needs of people affected by cancer and also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have.”

Portugal

Theo Houwen, Senior Vice President-Managing Director Driscoll’s of EMEA, is proud of 2016’s result: “As a company, we believe it is important to give something back to the community. By supporting local projects, we can contribute to the world around us.”
