How China celebrates Christmas

Christmas, a holiday that originally comes from the West, has been making an entrance in China in the past few years and is starting to adapt to the environment. It already has become a very popular holiday. As one of China's traditions, Christmas is still brand new. But, like many other customs that came to China hundreds of years before and were adopted, Christmas in China is also starting to show more and more Chinese traits. For an outsider, these characteristics are without any doubt fascinating and often confusing. For example, on Christmas eve, a gift called a 'Christmas apple' is quietly passed from one person to another. At the same time, because of commercial promotion and the pursuit of youngsters, this tradition is already changing again. In the West, Christmas is the time to be together with the family, but in China, the typical way of spending Christmas is by going outside to have fun, for example by going to the movies, singing karaoke or shopping.
