China: Tomato prices down 15%

At present, the reference price of tomatoes is 1.4 RMB in Shandong. Compared to October, that is a price drop of about 0.25 RMB, or 15.15%. Compared to the same period last year, the price difference is 0.55 RMB or 28.21%.

Following the change of the weather, the cultivation of outdoor tomatoes has come to an end. The tomatoes that supply the market now are mostly cultivated in greenhouses. Greenhouses heated in winter occupy a large proportion of Shandong province and the supply volume for tomatoes is increasing in many production regions. But on the other hand, the consumption of tomatoes gradually reduces as the season turns to winter. Starting from mid-November, the tomato price has started to adjust.
