We all know organic produce is becoming increasingly popular, so much so that Vivitoscano, a company part of Gruppo Apofruit specialising in the distribution and trading of organic produce, has had to move.The new packaging and distribution centre was finally inaugurated and Ernesto Fornari, Vivitoscano and Canova Director, commented by saying that "we really needed to move."

Established in 2009 under the name Vivibio, the company grew over the years and became Vivitoscano. The year it was founded, the turnover was €4.5 million, but the figure more than doubled last year (€9.5 million) and "we will exceed €10 million this year."

The new facility covers 2,000 sq m and is equipped with 2 refrigerated units, 6 packaging lines, new machinery, warehouse and offices. The company packages both Almaverde Bio and distributor branded produce. This new structure is also within Mercafir, so the company can count on CFT-Cooperativa Facchinaggio e Trasporti logistics.

The new facility was partly financed within a Progetto Integrato di Filiera (PIF - Integrated Chain Project) of Regione Toscana part of PSR. Tuscany was the first region to use PIFs in Italy.
