"Peru: Ag exports in "reefer" containers up 38% in Callao."

APM Terminals Callao, a Terminal Norte Multipropósito del Puerto del Callao, Perú, port operator, reported that in the period from January to September 2016, agricultural exports in reefer containers mobilized through Muelle Norte grew by 38% compared to the same period last year, driven mainly by grapes, avocados, citrus, onions, and mango exports, among others, reported PressPerú.

Sofia Balbi, APM Terminals Callao's commercial container manager, said that "in APM Terminals Callao we are prepared to meet the growing demand for reefers in the agro-export market, having extended our offer to more than 600 power outlets; and enabling a new access for containers to the port where reefer container trucks have a dedicated access, providing a fluent entry."

Recent investments have enabled APM Terminals Callao a 24% growth of its market share in chilled containers for agricultural exports in the port of Callao compared to 2015, with approximately 50% of the container market to date.

"We are aware of the importance of maintaining the high quality service our customers require, which is why we will continue working to stay ahead and to live up to their expectations, with the implementation of an online temperature monitoring system as one of our future projects, " Sofia Balbi concluded.
