Cherries from Patagonia, new at Expo-INIA Healthy Foods

Cherries from Patagonia are one of the main new products at Expo-INIA Healthy Foods 2016; an event open to the public held on 16 November in the Plaza de la Ciudadanía (in front of the Palacio de La Moneda) in Santiago city centre.

The event will have 25 stands for the taste and display of healthy and innovative agro-food products developed by the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Other products that stand out are the cherries produced in Chile Chico, where INIA, together with producers from Chile Chico Valley and with the support of INDAP, CORFO, FIA, Empresas Frutícolas and the Regional Government of Aysén, has developed cherry cultivation and made it the main export commodity in the fresh fruit sector.

INIA's national director, Julio Kalazich, pointed out that "as the country's main agricultural research institution under the Ministry of Agriculture, we are proud to be able to showcase part of what we have contributed to agro-food development in our more than 50 years of history."
