New products and first appearances at expoSe

On 16 and 17 November 2016, the 21st European Asparagus and Strawberry Trade Fair (expoSE) and the 6th Exhibition for agricultural direct selling (expoDirekt) will attract over 6,000 visitors from all over the world.

The interest of German and foreign visitors and exhibitors in the trade fair increases every year,” states the organiser Simon Schumacher of the Verband Süddeutscher Spargel- ind Erdbeeranbauer (the Association of Southern German asparagus and strawberry growers, VSSE).

STEP Systems with COMBI 5000
The COMBI 5000 is a multifunctional measuring device that measures the most important parameters that contribute to optimal plant nutrition. The handheld device, which is made by STEP Systems, determines the following values quickly and accurately: pH, EC value, activity level, temperature and soil moisture level. The parameters can be measured both in a nutrient solution and directly in the soil or substratum.

Russel IPM with Actiroll and Otirol
Russel IPM is a new exhibitor from England and is showcasing its technology for biological pest control at expoSE for the first time. It will be presenting Actiroll and Otiroll, which are large sticky traps that catch aphids, thrips and whiteflies, and are available in different colours. Grewe Handel & Beratung with new STUNK
Keeping wild animals away effectively is what J. Grewe Handel & Beratung specialises in. It uses STUNK odour columns to prevent wild animals from getting close to crop areas. It has now brought out a new addition to its product range: odour columns that can cover up to 20 hectares. The columns, which can be up to two metres tall, are set up around the field requiring protection. They can then be filled with three to six litres of the odorous substance, which will remain effective for up to a year.

MobilZeit with new Z.Box MULTI
The new Z.Box MULTI is a reliable and user-friendly mobile time -recording system for farms, according to its developer, MobilZeit. With the assistance of an RFID transponder chip, employees can clock in and off directly in the field and therefore register working hours that earn them the minimum wage. Using GPRS, an integrated modem delivers the times to the MobilZeit software, which has to be installed at the farm. An integrated GPS receiver tracks the position of the device during the clock-in and clock-off times, which prevents the system from being abused. The built-in battery is designed for 24-hour use and there is no limit to the number of people the system can be used for.

HEPRO with new mirrored version of HEPRO-1800 asparagus peeling machine
HEPRO has acted on the suggestions of its customers and will be presenting a mirrored version of the HEPRO-1800 asparagus peeling machine. Mirroring the machine vertically has improved its uses. Requirements that arise from on-site conditions can now be met more effectively, while having a mirrored version also means two machines can be fed by one person.

Schusters Spezialitäten GbR with Shrub
Schusters Spezialitäten GbR recently added the flavours of beetroot, garlic, ramsons and red onion to its Shrub syrup range. The only ingredients in the syrups are fruit or herbs, cider vinegar and sugar. An introductory package consisting of 10 250ml bottles of one variety, tasting cups and recipe flyers is being offered to first-time re-sellers. In addition, another 250ml bottle of a different flavour is being thrown in free.

Essigmeisterei Green Element GmbH with vinegar
Essigmeisterei Green Element GmbH will be represented at expoDirekt for the first time by its balsamic vinegar and other vinegars. The Kehl-based manufacturer produces high-quality vinegars containing no technical or chemical additives and no agents like sulphur, potassium bisulphide, antioxidants, colourings or flavourings. The handmade vinegars are made with local products such as wines, fruits and berries using a careful, considerate manufacturing process and are IFS-certified. Biological acid fermentation, storage and expansion in old barrels made of different types of wood such as oak, ash, chestnut and cherry, guarantee a varied and high-quality range of vinegars. Customers can also add their own branding to the vinegars by sticking their own labels on the bottles.

EB-Secco GmbH with newly developed Federweisser
EB-Secco GmbH will be showcasing a newly developed Federweisser that keeps for a long time at expoDirekt. The preserving prevents the Federweisser from constantly changing as a result of the fermentation process. Available in both bottles and cans, the product can be kept for up to a year and does not need to be refrigerated. This makes selling it at mobile stalls, which generally don’t have any refrigeration facilities, a real option.

Enzborn with body care products
For the first time, Enzborn is presenting its entire range of body care products at expoDirekt for re-sale by farm shops. The brand has been deeply rooted in agriculture since it was founded, because it has produced its long-proven milking grease and famous horse balm right from the beginning. All the products in the range are based on naturally active substances. The Enzborn Ice and Fire Devil’s Creams, for example, are care gels that help to alleviate problems like pain and tension using stinging nettles, devil’s claw and other natural ingredients.

Südglas EG with high-quality bottle finishes
Südglas EG offers its customers high-quality bottle finishes that can be individualised even when only a small number of bottles are purchased. For example, a bottle could be made of coloured glass with a matt finish, but then printed according to the filler’s specifications and requirements or given an individualised label. More and more farm shop operators are taking up this offer, as it allows the re-seller’s brand to be advertised very clearly via purchased products as well as products it makes itself.

Dosen-Zentrale Züchner GmbH with the trademark EINKOCHWELT
Dosen-Zentrale Züchner GmbH is appearing at expoDirekt for the first time. One of the largest specialist retailers for WECK jars and also a supplier of bottles, lids and screw-top jars, it offers a wide range of products for self-fillers and farm shops who are re-sellers. It provides merchandise placement support in the form of various display solutions, graphics services, in-house label printing and even the development of own brands and private labels. In addition, the trademark EINKOCHWELT offers re-sellers a customisable range of jars, bottles, accessories and decorative items that comes ready for sale.

Primakoerbe.de with gift basket and triangular box
Primakoerbe.de recently launched a new triangular box with a transparent lid. It is particularly suitable for small jars and cans.
