Gerrit Tijhof, Sismatec:

"Increasing demand for top seal packaging in fruit sector"

During the Amsterdam Produce Show, Sismatec inspired visitors to look at a different way of packaging. According to commercial director, Gerrit Tijhof, there is an increasing demand for resealable top seal packaging without a lid in the fruit sector. "It also has countless advantages. Companies add value to their product, extend the shelf life and improve the presentation with this. The packaging also consists of less material (-30%), which means a lower strain on the environment. The British market was ahead with demand for this packaging and we now see the rest of Europe following. This also goes for the carton 'Halopack' packaging, which are innovative, distinctive and greener."

The company's fruit and vegetable show-pony is Proseal, of which Sismatec is the representative in Europe. "Proseal builds tray sealers and is the market leader in this area in soft fruit. Customers keep asking us to realise complete lines, where we add multi head scales, metal detectors or labellers. We placed the complete lines in The Greenery's new soft fruit centre," says Gerrit. "Due to the width of our assortment we have a lot to offer customers. You can come to us for scales, cutting, scraping, peeling and packaging machines."
