Tunisia: Record citrus harvest- more exports to Russia and Algeria

A record harvest of 560 million tons is expected for citrus production in Tunisia this year, i.e. double that recorded last year.

Measures are being taken to ensure that this particularly big harvest is marketed both nationally and internationally. The distribution programme plans to focus exports on the Algerian and Russian markets as well as traditional markets.

Whilst producers are pleased with the abundant volume, production costs are constantly increasing and they are worried that problems with marketing and export could have an effect on the sales price.
