Guadaloupe: Ag entrepreneurs interested in the Dominican Republic

Agricultural entrepreneurs, importers, and exporters from the island of Guadeloupe, who are interested in investing in the Dominican Republic, visited the Minister of Agriculture, Angel Estevez, with Andrea Medina, the Dominican consul to the French island.

The delegation, which was headed by Mrs. Maxette Grisoni and her husband Philippe Grisoni, met with the Minister of Agriculture and with Michel Morice, an advisor to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce for the Caribbean, for more than an hour.

The Grisoni family produces and exports various products to France, including an exquisite and unique natural cane juice, which has been recognized and certified in that nation.

The family showed interest in building a processing plant in the country, due to the quality of the cane grown in the Dominican Republic and because, unlike Guadeloupe, the Dominican Republic produces cane throughout the year.

They also showed interest in having trade with the Dominican Republic, so they can share their experiences in the production of Ron (as they manufacture two brands), bananas, and pineapples, among others.

Maxette Grisoni is the current president of the Association of Agricultural Producers, the most important association in Guadaloupe, which will turn 78 in November. Mrs Grisoni invited Minister Estevez to attend the celebration, which will be held on November 16,17, and 18, and that will include conferences, exhibitions, and fairs with local and imported agricultural products.
