Ecuador sent its first shipment of non-traditional fruits to Russia

In May 2015, the Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Ecuador-Russia (CICEC) was held in Moscow between the Ecuadorian Agency for Agricultural Quality Assurance, Agrocalidad, and its Russian counterpart Rosselkhoznadzor, to strengthen exports of non-traditional products between both countries.

The meeting was an effort to continue the work exchange of regulations that enable trade in agricultural products. In it the Rosselkhoznadzor provided the phytosanitary requirements that Ecuador must meet to export to Russia.

After hard work, Agrocalidad formalized the requirements made by the Russian authorities for the export of various agricultural products. This information is currently available on Agrocalidad's web page.

The actions led the way to the first export of non-traditional fruits to Russia, which were sent successfully from Ecuadorian territory. On Friday, October 21, Ecuador sent by air jalapeno pepper, cucumber, grapes, tree tomato, naranjilla, passion fruit, dragon fruit, pitahaya, and soursop; thus facilitating trade between Ecuador and Russia.

Agrocalidad has once again demonstrated its commitment to the export sector and the ongoing work to access a greater number of destinations for Ecuadorian products of the highest quality.
