2016 Persimmon Red Festival opened in Shaanxi Fuping

On October 23, 2016, the 2016 Persimmon Red Festival of Persimmon in Fuping and the online sales summit was opened.

Fuping is also called the 'village of persimmon'. The entire county has no less than 733 hectares of persimmon cultivation surface. The yearly production is about 4000 tons, of which more than 3000 tons is exported. The total production has a value of more than 180 million RMB. The persimmon trees are recognised and adopted. They are marketed as the 'Persimmon Red' on the internet so people can place orders to adopt one. This way, the persimmon industry becomes the property of the common people.

In 2014, Fuping Qijin Ecological Agriculture Science and Technology Development, created the 'Persimmon Red' brand at the Wanmu persimmon orchard. The company also founded the first museum that focuses on persimmon and established the Chinese Persimmon Natural Resources Orchard.

In 2015, Fuping Yonghui Modern Agriculture Development invested 200 million RMB to build the world's largest modern processing factory for persimmon with the goal to produce 3000 tons of dried persimmon per year and to develop refined processing for the persimmon. In cooperation with farmers, a 66 hectare, standardised, cultivation demonstration orchard was built. It has become a unique modern demonstration region for the whole country.
