Ivory Coast: 43.3% increase in mango exports

The Ivory Coast exported 32,628 tons of mangoes over the 2016 season, i.e. a 43.3% increase compared to last year.

With annual production reaching about 100,000 tons, the fruit is gradually becoming part of the country’s agro-economic landscape. Bruno Nabagné Koné, a spokesman for the government, says that “Mangoes have become the country’s third most exported fruit after pineapples and bananas.”

However, the sector suffers from shipments being intercepted at the importing countries borders. This is also a problem for other West African countries and has led to a €23.5 million plan being set up to reduce such interceptions.
