Prices are around €1.40-1.60/kg for high-quality produce and reach €2-2.20/kg for extra quality fruit. "Suppliers would like higher prices and volumes are dropping because it is the end of the season, but demand is not very lively at the moment."
This in turn means prices remain rather constant, and that is why the recent bad weather in Puglia does not seem to have caused problems on the Bologna market. "Volumes available are enough to meet demand."
As the campaign is ending, production areas have started selecting the fruit to store until Christmas, when demand grows again. Volumes available are therefore expected to drop in the next few weeks.
