Due to the tropical storm Sarika, on October 18, coastal wind speeds of 9 to 11 beaufort were recorded. In the West of Canton, waves of 4 to 6 meters high were reported. The photo shows the devastation in Yuwen county in Zhanjiang near Canton. Banana trees and corn were blown to the ground over large areas as well as many papaya trees.
