Italy: Growing export trend, both volume and value

The data for the first seven months of 2016 confirms a growing export trend, both in terms of volume (+6%) and value (+4.7%), while imports dropped (-6% in volumes and -1.2% in value).

The balance is €420 million, +50.4% with respect to the same period last year.

Italy exported around 2.4 million tons of produce for a total value of €2.547 billion.

Volumes increased for citrus fruit (+19.4%), vegetables (+16%) and dried fruit (+9%) while they decreased slightly for fresh fruit (-0.9%). Only the value of fresh fruit dropped (-0.3%), while that of vegetables (+5.2%), citrus fruit (+34.3%) and dried fruit (+12.3%) increased.

Italy also imported around 1.982 million tons of products for a value of €2.127 billion.

There was a drop in the volumes of fresh fruit (-13.8%), vegetables (-0.9%) and citrus fruit (-35.4%) and an increase in the volumes of tropical fruit (+3.7%) and dried fruit (+20.8%). As regards the value, the sign was negative for citrus fruit and fresh fruit and positive for dried fruit, vegetables and tropical fruit.
