Peru will promote its grapes in South Korea

The Commercial Office of Peru (OCEX) in Bogota, stated that the Peruvian companies Complejo Agroindustrial Beta, Fundo Sacramento, Greenland Peru, Agro Victoria, and Proagro had all participated in a total of 40 business conferences in South Korea with South Korean distributors of fruit and the people in charge of purchases in the 'horeca' sector (hotels, catering, and restaurants).

The most requested grape varieties by Korean companies, such as Jinwon, K Fruit, Sooil and CJ Freshway, were the Crimson and Thompson seedless varieties.

The Korean businessmen were also interested in other agricultural products, such as the mango and the avocado. Chinese authorities are expected to adopt a protocol for the entry of Peruvian avocados into their market before May 2017.

It is worth noting that the domestic entrepreneurs took advantage of their participation in the latest edition of the Asia Fruit Logistica fair to attend the business meetings.

The Peruvian Red Globe grape variety continues to be the most preferred variety in the South Korean market.

Peruvian table grape exports in 2015 amounted to 22 million dollars, i.e. 32% higher than the 16.7 million achieved in the previous year.
