Paraguay: Pineapple generates substantial revenue in San Pedro

MAG provides vital support to family agricultural producers and have managed the transfer of a significant amount of pineapple to the main wholesale markets, avoiding middlemen, so that producers were able to directly sell their products in the marketing Center of the MAG.

Pineapple producers from Tava Guarani, in the second department, conducted the second installment of 380 boxes of good quality fruit, for a total 760 boxes, at an average price of 50,000 guaranĂes per box. This represents a profit of 38,000,000 guaranies, which will directly benefit 12 families of the pineapple committee.

Pineapple cultivation is considered profitable and, on average, producers generate 30 million guaranies in profit per hectare planted. 28,000 to 30,000 pineapple plants can be planted per hectare, which can produce more than 31,000 kg/has.

The normal production time, including the sowing, ripening, and harvesting of pineapples takes between 15 and 18 months.
