NIAB bulb onion variety trials

British Onions are working with AHDB Horticulture and NIAB to organise an open day for all involved in onions. The day will provide an exchange of agronomy and marketing information for onion growers.

Bruce Napier (Vegetable Specialist, NIAB) will provide a summary of results from the onion variety trials 2016. A review of crop protection approvals will be explained by Andy Richardson at A&B Agronomy. 

Sam Rix, the British Onion R&D Chairman will provide current AHDB Horticulture funded onion research with Dr Behr at AMI providing European onion harvest results. 

To conclude the event British Onions Chairman, Andrew Holding, will discuss onion marketing prospects for the 2016/2017 season.

This will be an informative day with time to visit the extensive onion bulb variety display, with all participating seed & set companies in attendance to discuss their different varieties.

The event will commence at 12 noon for registration, a light lunch and viewing of the varieties. It will be held at Sophi Taylor Conference Centre, NIAB Park Farm, Villa Road, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9NZ.

This event is for British Onion members, AHDB levy payers and the trade press only. 

Registration prior to the event is essential, please register your attendance with Brooke Lovelock at British Onions by Monday 31st October 2016 with your name, company name, email and contact number.
