Hundreds of ginger plants bloom

According to Mr. Huang, from Yangxinyuan Farm in Xiyuan village, (Minhou county), over 200 hundred ginger plants bloomed on his farm on October 7th. "This was the first time in my life that I saw the ginger bloom. Even 70 to 80 year-old villagers haven't had the chance to see this amazing scene", said Mr. Huang. On top of the raw ginger, it produced a cluster of green corollas. Generally its flower blooms during the lunch time and the flowers will wither and fall the following day.

According to Lin Biying, a professor from Department of Horticulture in Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, it is indeed rare to see raw ginger bloom. Perhaps after many years, this ginger variety has adapted to the local environment, therefore they bloom with the right temperature and sunlight. This phenomenon will not impact the output of ginger, nor its safety for consumption.
