Chill acquire strategic Perth cold chain facility

Chill have just made a significant step forward in growing their Perth, WA operations. Chill have acquired a cold chain compliant purpose built facility at 5 Chifley Brace Jandakot WA 6164. The property is just 18 klms South of the Perth CBD in the Jandakot Industrial precinct. It’s in close proximity to the Kwinana Freeway, Armadale Road and Cockburn Regional Centre.

Chill will takeover the site which has previously been leased and operated by Compass Group, servicing all the Perishable Logistics needs of Chevron Australia’s Barrow Island Gorgon Project. In peak periods over 8000 workers needed to be fed everyday and all those meals would come out of this facility.

As is the case in more stories than less across Australia’s Mining Industry suppliers, needs are changing and contracts are been re negotiated or terminated. Chill, having not been involved in mining or the associated downturn, were able to make this strategic move into the Jandakot facility where they will now capitalize on the shortage of Coolrooom and Freezer storage in Perth.

“Perth’s been a very tough market to source any decent refrigerated and frozen storage space for years. Just about everyone in the space has been running at capacity for some time and anything that comes available is taken up very quickly. This site allows Chill to play a very strategic role in both 3PL import and export requirements as well as domestic first mile and last mile refrigerated logistics, fulfillment and storage.” says Andrew Wade Managing Director of Chill

Chill now have an A grade facility rivaling their Sydney and Melbourne sites in size and performing 3PL requirements for some of the country’s best known brands such as Bellamy’s Organics, Pacific Seeds, Chia Co, Chobani, Laduree, Donna Italia, Plant Based Foods, Gurit. “We will be bringing some of our existing East Coast clients West as well as welcoming some exciting new local Perth based businesses that are quality and service hungry looking for “logistics with a difference”.

Chill operates facilities and fleet in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth & Adelaide offering an uncompromising level of service and dependability rarely seen or experienced in the industry.

In 2015 Chill also began building and selling refrigerated truck bodies which is proving to be another smart strategic step forward for Chill as they continue expanding not only vertically and horizontally but across the Country.
