Last September Argentina exported a total of 1,299.4 tons of blueberries, at an average FOB price of US $10.72/kg. In the same month of 2015, Argentina exported 848.3 tons of blueberries at an average price of US $10.52/kg.
The ONG Interrupcion, declared the highest price last month with a batch of 2,160 kilos of organic blueberries, destined to the Netherlands, with an FOB value of US $18.68/kg.
Only 2% of the volume declared last September had a value above US $14.0/kg. 30% of it ranged between US $12.0 and 13.9/kg, and 38% had prices from US $10.0 to 11.9/kg. The remaining 30% recorded prices below US $9.9/kg.
Last month, 838 tons were shipped to the US (64.4% of the stated volume), followed by the UK (20%), Germany (5.1%), and the Netherlands (4.6%), among other markets.
Most of the blueberry production areas are concentrated in the provinces of Tucuman, Entre Rios, and Buenos Aires. The bulk of the harvest takes place in the last quarter of the year. Argentina's main exporting companies are integrated into the Argentinean Blueberry Committee.
