Mollar Elche pomegranates taking advantage of PDO to expand

The Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) of Mollar Elche pomegranates, will be taking part in the upcoming edition of the International Fruit and Vegetable Fair, Fruit Attraction, held between 5 and 7 October in Madrid.

The president of the interim Governing Board of the PDO, Francisco Oliva, said that "this fair has become a key global event and a great place to showcase our product, to make the sector familiar with our designation of origin and to make it clear that, this campaign, we will be marketing Mollar Elche pomegranates under this quality seal."

Oliva hopes that this new situation "will create opportunities and allow us to increase our market share." "Having a label that differentiates and distinguishes us in the market should be a plus for our customers and to attract new buyers."

The president of the interim Governing Board of the PDO notes that "the fair is held at the best time for our sector, because we have just started the campaign, the harvest is in full swing and it is the best time for companies under the PDO to sign trade agreements."

Oliva also wanted to thank the Government Delegation of Alicante for its support and commitment to the promotion of the province's products, by bringing all designations of origin and quality labels together in a single stand.

The value of the product through gastronomy
In addition to the physical presence of the Designation of Origin, with its exhibition space at the fair, Mollar Elche pomegranates will also take centre stage at the event through gastronomy.

The Designation of Origin will participate in the gastronomic space, Fruit Fusion; a side event of the fair in which farm products are promoted through showcookings.

This year, the participation of Mollar Elche pomegranates will be in the hands of Noelia Pascual, head of the restaurant Cachito, who will prepare two innovative dishes, with pomegranates from Granada as the main ingredient.

Her culinary demonstration, called 'The Mollar pomegranate from Elche, the value of a product', will take place on Wednesday, 5 October at 12.00.
