"I wouldn't let lack of space limit my sales!"

It seems as if Mitrofresh has a real thing for moving around. After using various locations in the Westland, the specialist in Asian mushrooms finally settled in the Transportweg in Maasdijk, this year. Since then, the warehouse has been filled with (Asian) mushrooms, greens, and exotic produce. “Our revenue is doubling every year, and we have already grown too much as a business to stay here. Now there 30 people employed at Mitrofresh and I’m not going to let lack of space limit our sales,” says Valon Bahtiri.

The main part of the revenue (80%) is obtained from Asian mushrooms. “This market is still growing strongly. People are looking for something new and, because of a joint venture with one of the largest Asian mushroom producers, we can offer broad availability,” says Valon. The top selling products are shiitake, eryngii, and enoki, which was brought on the market in a mini variety by Mitrofresh. The company has added to their mushroom choice a large Asian assortment, varying from Ya and Nashi pears, to winter melons, Chinese greens, and lotus roots.

“The Benelux is our market and we focus mainly on restaurants and supermarkets. We have fully expanded our packaging line, so we can pack our products in any way our clients desire. The small packages are in demand, and we can create many combined packages. Large or small amounts, mixed pallets. Everything is possible around here. Our customers know that they can get a good deal and that we deliver customized products,” says Valon.

This week, Mitrofresh was at AGF Detail (stand 382). Next week, the company will be present as stallholder at the Fruit Attraction in Madrid (7E08).
