Spain: Valencia to host 6th International Kaki Symposium

Valencia will host the Sixth International Kaki Symposium, which will bring together experts in the cultivation, post-harvest and marketing of kakis from around the world. The event, to be held from 16 to 20 October in the premises of the Fundación Universidad Empresa-ADEIT, will count on the presence of TECNIDEX, a Spanish company devoted to the marketing of products, technologies and services to ensure the health and quality of fruits and vegetables in the post-harvest.

TECNIDEX is the only company in its sector developing specific technologies for the treatment of kakis with its CONTROL-TEC® CAM KAKI line, which eliminates the astringency of kakis while preventing the appearance of spots on the fruit with the use of a CO2 controlled-atmosphere for an average of 24 hours.

Scientists and technicians from many countries will discuss the latest developments in the kaki sector, including the current situation of this crop in the world, the best tools for the control of pests and diseases, as well as post-harvest and marketing techniques. The conferences will be complemented with other activities, including technical visits to the main production areas of Spain, such as La Ribera (in Valencia) and Huelva.

TECNIDEX, which is one of the sponsors of the event, will have its own stand and will showcase its CONTROL-TEC CAM KAKI.

This edition of the symposium has been organised by the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA), the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA), the SECH (Spanish Society of Horticultural Sciences) and by the PDO Kaki Ribera del Xúquer.

Previous editions of the event have been held in Thailand, South Korea, Australia, Italy and China, all with great success.
